This is a very budget friendly hunting/fishing trip to Alaska. We will be staying with Outdoors Network International on Coffman Island. They have beautiful rustic cabins that provide housing. Each cabin is a two bedroom, two bath, with a full kitchen (pictured above). Two of the cabins are wheel chair accessible. We will eat all our meals and do devotionals (lead by Ross) together in the dinning room (pictured below). The small town of Coffman Cove has a picturesque marina and provides full services to meet the needs of our guests. It is located on beautiful Prince of Wales Island in South-east Alaska. Prince of Wales is the third largest island in the United States., behind Kodiak Island in Alaska and the Big Island in Hawaii. It’s scenery and solitude are un-matched. Well over half of the entire Prince of Wales Island is public land open to hunting and fishing. For the trip you need to provide your own transportation to Ketchikan. Included in the cost of the trip is the Ferry ride from Ketchikan to Hollis (on Prince of Wales Island). The Ferry leaves for the island at 3:30pm on Friday, September 2. When we return we will arrive back to Ketchikan at 11:00am on Sunday, September 11. So plan your flights/travel accordingly. Once on the beautiful Island we will have the opportunity to hunt, fish and take in the incredible beauty. This is not a fully guided trip. There will be vehicles and boats we can use for our adventures. There will be a camp guide who can offer assistance, but we are on our own for the hunting and fishing. If people would like to do some offshore Halibut fishing we can arrange guided trips to do this. The cost for that is $300/person each day. When we are on the Island there will be opportunities to fish for Salmon and Trout as they are running up the rivers. The hunting seasons open while we are there are Sitka Blacktail and Black Bear hunting. The Sitka tag is an over the counter tag that can be purchased (you can purchase up to 4 buck tags). The Island is known for having giant Black Bears (at one point 4 of the top 10 B&C black bears were killed on the Island). If you are wanting to hunt for bears the application period is November 1-December 15, 2021. You will need to do the application online or mail it in. You can do a buddy draw with one other person. The tag you are applying for is DL027, you can apply up to 6 times.
